Parenting/Life Skills Program

The Council for Community Outreach and Development, Inc. received a grant from the Levin Foundation for community outreach. Upon receiving these funds, St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church entered into a partnership with Miami Valley Child Development Center, Inc. and Unified Health Solutions to organize develop and implement a Parenting/ Life Skills Program for Families. Since it’s inception we have included Wesley Center and Wesley Manor as partners.

To accomplish our task each month we have offered the participants an opportunity to enjoy a meal with their families, meet new people, and discover resources that may be available to them, all while their children enjoy supervised activities.

The topics covered are: Role and Responsibility of Grandparents, Consequences of Teenage Pregnancy, Chemical Dependency in the Family, Abusive Relations and Alternatives, Money Management, Creative Child Discipline, Juvenile Court System, and Community Resources.

To become more accessible to the community all programs are held at the Wesley Community Center located at 3730 Delphos Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45417. The hours are 4-6pm the second Wednesday of each month
